# Enzo product reference Enzo is a native Mac app for dictation, local meeting capture, private work Recall, and on-device grounded answers. It was called Glassfox from version 1.6 and Chirp before that. The current download is Chirp 1.5.4; the Enzo app update is being prepared. The rename does not require an existing customer to repurchase, reactivate, or move local data. ## Positioning Enzo helps a Mac user type less and keep the thread across spoken notes, meetings, and selected work context. It is designed around local processing and explicit source boundaries rather than a cloud meeting bot or an always-on screenshot archive. ## Requirements - Apple Silicon Mac, M1 or newer - macOS 15 or later - English for dictation and meeting transcription - About 3.4 GB for staged voice-model downloads - About 3.4 GB more for the separate Enzo Intelligence download Interrupted model downloads resume. Recording, transcription, and local Intelligence work offline after setup. License checks, model and app downloads, updates, optional anonymous analytics, and optional web research requested by the local model use the internet. ## Dictation and recordings Press the configured recording key, speak, and press it again to stop. When one voice is present, clean text is delivered at the cursor in the active Mac app. A recording is retained in Speak with searchable text and audio according to the user's storage choices. When a conversation is present, Enzo can retain the audio, separate voices in the transcript, and use saved speaker profiles for familiar voices. It captures locally from the Mac and does not invite a bot into Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, FaceTime, or another meeting service. ## Recall Recall is the public name for the app's opt-in local work timeline. It can include foreground app and time plus bounded readable window, document, website, or focused-app context when macOS exposes that context safely. Recall properties: - Off until the user enables it - Encrypted locally for sensitive readable context - No persistent screenshot archive - Optional visible-text recognition runs locally and discards captured pixels immediately - Passwords, secure fields, protected surfaces, excluded apps, and Enzo's own windows are skipped - 30-day retention by default - Pause, app/site exclusions, inspection, export, and deletion controls Enzo continues to use the legacy `~/Library/Application Support/Chirp` folder in version 1.6 so existing local data remains available without a risky folder migration. ## Ask and Intelligence Ask can use relevant recordings, Recall moments, explicitly attached files, and current-screen text when the user permits them. Answer generation defaults to Local on the Mac. If the user adds their own API key and selects DeepSeek Flash, the question, recent conversation, and selected text go directly to DeepSeek. Provider usage charges are separate from Enzo Pro. The API key is stored in the macOS Keychain; the request does not pass through Enzo servers. The interface shows the sources used for an answer. For each question, the local model decides whether current public information is materially necessary. That routing pass is on-device. Web research is enabled by default and can be disabled in Privacy settings. When needed, the app sends one bounded query—derived from the current question and, for follow-ups, recent user questions—directly from the Mac to DuckDuckGo or Bing. It then directly retrieves up to four selected public pages or supported documents and extracts their readable contents locally. No search or page request passes through Enzo. Local transcripts, attached-file contents, Recall, screenshots, assistant messages, the full conversation, and the assembled local model prompt are not sent with those requests. Returned source excerpts are used transiently for local answer generation. Enzo Intelligence can create summaries, cleaned notes, email drafts, and grounded answers. Generated output does not overwrite the original transcript. ## Privacy boundary Transcription and Recall collection run on the Mac. With Local selected, answer generation also stays on the Mac. Optional DeepSeek Flash can receive selected transcript, Recall, document, screen, and web-source text directly from the Mac using the user's API key. Raw audio, files, screenshots, and images are not sent in that request. Optional third-party MCP tools receive only the excerpts the user asks that tool to use and operate under their own privacy terms.
